2014 ReWind – P8 to P1…with a little bit more besides
As we continue our look back at the 2014 F1 season, here’s the remainder of our driver ratings, starting from P8 at the top of the page through to P1 and some closing thoughts. Controversial – yes; but then, as I said before, the points system is what really counts. These are just some of my feelings about a turbulent year just past.
May I also take this opportunity of wishing all of you a safe and prosperous 2015.

You did let your colours show in an interesting/informative take on 2014. Your long and intimate experience and understanding of the Formula 1 ‘circus’ (Rindt?) are welcome and I accept your personal preferences as you presented them – personal to you. And, even with a less informed knowledge and understanding, I will disagree but hold on to your right to be opinionated.
For me, 2014 was, unfortunately, a season quite spoiled by the otherwise knowledgeable Ben Edwards’ biased commentaries. They intruded on an otherwise stellar F1 year – to the point where we turned off the sound and to enoy the racing without the benefit of David and Allan’s appropriate commentaries. Perhaps a quiet word in Ben’s shell-like ear to curb his personal enthusiasms in the public arena?

I never get to hear the commentaries on TV so I can’t really comment other than to say that I’ve always had a lot of respect for Ben (ever since he beat me in an F3 test at Jerez a while ago!).
